This article contains information about moving the Citrix Presentation server and the XenApp servers from an existing Domain (A) to another Domain (B).

Notes:

  • This article might not cover all possible scenarios and is intended as a guide only.

  • This article does not attempt to cover all aspects of the basic Microsoft procedures and best practices for moving computers within domains.

  • Citrix recommends to be cautious when placing servers in the appropriate domain.

Instructions

To move the Citrix Presentation server and the XenApp servers from an existing domain to another domain, complete the following procedure:

To move the XenApp Server to another domain, complete the following procedure:

  1. Add the Citrix server’s Local Administrator as a Full Administrator in the Access Management Console, as displayed in the following screen shot:

  2. Back up the data store.

  3. Log on to the Presentation Server Console as a Local Administrator to verify the functionality.

  4. Disable logons to the server.

  5. Change domain membership of the data store server to New Domain.

  6. Restart the server.

  7. Log on to the Presentation Server as a Local Administrator.

  8. Update the user account to start the IMA Service with the Network Service account to re-register Independent Management Architecture (IMA) service with Network Service account.

  9. Set the password field to blank.

  10. Recreate Local Host Cache.

  11. Log on to the Presentation Server Console as a Local Administrator.

  12. Add the New Domain administrators to the Citrix Administrators node in the Presentation Server Console.

  13. Change the domain membership for non-data store servers and ensure that the members can log on to the Presentation Server Console.

  14. Modify the published application user accounts, as required to reflect New Domain user groups.

  15. Modify the Policies User accounts, as required to reflect New Domain user groups.

If Windows NT authentication is used, make the appropriate changes, if applicable, to the DSN and databases prior to changing domain membership. Existing Resource Manager DSN and Databases might need to be reconfigured. Existing Installation Manager accounts and package locations might need to be reconfigured. Existing Trust Relationships between the Domains might make this process easier. The trusts could be established and then removed after the server movement has been completed as verified in the Xenapp 6 Environment.
